[Explanation] Otsuka Corporation to Launch Cloud Service Integrated with Box on September 1st

IT

Starting September 1, 2026, Otsuka Corporation will begin offering a new service, “Dokodemo CDM,” which integrates with the cloud content management platform “Box” to centrally manage information on a project-by-project basis. This comes against the backdrop of solving issues in cloud storage folder operations, such as operations becoming dependent on specific individuals, decreased searchability, and an increased management load.

Launch of the Cloud Service “Dokodemo CDM”

Solution provider Otsuka Corporation will launch “Dokodemo CDM,” a new cloud service that centrally manages information on a project-by-project basis for users of Box, the cloud content management platform, starting September 1, 2026.

The new service, “Dokodemo CDM,” is a SaaS-type system that provides a mechanism to link and manage various folders and documents stored on Box with specific business units such as projects or cases, and display them in a list. The monthly subscription fee for this service starts at 25,000 yen (excluding tax), and a separate Box license contract of Business Plus or higher is required for use.

As a solution that dramatically improves information searchability, governance, and reusability all at once for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that run many projects simultaneously across multiple departments and locations, and drastically boosts daily operational efficiency, great expectations are building toward its release in September 2026.

Challenges and the Reliance on Specific Individuals in Traditional Cloud Storage Operations

While the adoption of cloud storage is progressing in many companies, several serious issues have come to light regarding the management and sharing of digital data that relies solely on traditional folder hierarchies. In particular, because the methods for creating folders and naming conventions vary depending on individual staff members or projects, the folder structure gradually becomes dependent on specific individuals. As inconsistencies in folder management grow, it becomes unclear where necessary files are stored, leading to an increase in the time spent searching for and reusing documents. Furthermore, the task of individually setting and changing access permissions for files containing confidential information on a folder-by-folder basis increases the operational burden on system administrators as the number of projects grows, and also elevates the risk of information leakage due to misconfigurations. Especially in fields such as design operations in the construction and manufacturing industries, where a single project handles a large volume of documents such as drawings and specifications, it has been extremely difficult to achieve smooth sharing while maintaining information control. Against the backdrop of these challenges, there has been a strong demand for a transition to a new management system that does not depend on folder structures.

Efficiency through attribute search and centralized management of project information

By implementing Dokodemo CDM, you can evolve the vast amount of digital data stored in Box from a state of simply being stored to a state of being effectively utilized in business operations. With this system, by linking individual project attribute information—such as project names, project managers, and transaction amounts—to files, it becomes possible to quickly search for and extract required information without having to navigate complex folder hierarchies. Furthermore, the system is equipped with a function that automatically applies a standard folder structure compliant with pre-registered internal rules and governance policies at the start of a new project. This prevents inconsistencies in folder structures and reliance on specific individuals in advance. In addition, an automatic access permission setting function is implemented, which automatically grants appropriate viewing and editing permissions to relevant personnel on a project-by-project basis, simultaneously reducing the effort of system administrators manually setting permissions and ensuring security. This achieves both business process efficiency and advanced information governance.

Evolution from On-Premises and Addressing Security Governance

SaaS-ification inheriting the know-how of “Rakuraku CDM” for the construction industry

Otsuka Corporation has long provided “Raku-Raku CDM,” an on-premises system that has earned a strong reputation as a project document management system primarily for the construction industry. “Dokodemo CDM” is a newly developed SaaS-based service that inherits the concepts and know-how cultivated over many years through the operation of Raku-Raku CDM, designed to centrally manage diverse documents and drawings on a project-by-project basis and ensure operational transparency. It was built to respond more quickly and cost-effectively to the recent expansion of cloud service adoption and the growing societal demand for flexible, location-independent work styles such as remote work. With the launch of this new service, user companies can now freely choose the optimal option according to their security policies, information management systems, or operational preferences between on-premises and the cloud: the traditional on-premises “Raku-Raku CDM” or the SaaS-based “Dokodemo CDM,” which enables an easy start with minimized initial deployment costs.

SCS Evaluation System Compliance and Supply Chain Security

In today’s business environment, the threat of supply chain attacks is rapidly increasing, exploiting vulnerabilities in the robust security of large enterprises to infiltrate via relatively poorly defended business partners and subcontractors. To counter this, a security measure evaluation system aimed at strengthening the supply chain, led by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and commonly known as the SCS Evaluation System, is preparing for full-scale operation starting at the end of fiscal 2026. This new system requires all small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and contractor companies comprising the supply chain to clarify the necessary security standards and objectively visualize their implementation status. Ahead of the full-scale launch of the evaluation system, companies need to secure records of security measures within their IT infrastructure and establish ways to prove their information management governance frameworks. The integration solution between Dokodemo CDM and Box, provided by Otsuka Corporation, guarantees the strict data governance and data management transparency required by this new system through features such as the automatic deployment of standard folders and automatic permission control, providing strong backing for companies to smoothly comply with the regulations.

Future Prospects Brought by Data Integration with External Tools

Dokodemo CDM is positioned not merely as an extension tool for Box, but as a common foundation for next-generation construction DX and manufacturing DX with potential for future scalability. Moving forward, seamless data integration is expected with a wide variety of external applications and cloud services, such as integration with Box AI (Box’s native AI feature), the mobile-enabled on-site record management system i-Reporter, and the widely adopted no-code tool kintone. By fusing these digital tools, Otsuka Corporation aims to build a powerful integrated environment that directly connects various data generated on-site with back-office management departments, thereby supporting real-time progress tracking and decision-making. As the digitalization of entire supply chains and the reinforcement of security accelerate, the importance of infrastructure that enables the safe and efficient flow of data under proper information management continues to grow. The launch of Dokodemo CDM in September 2026 will serve as a crucial milestone in making such corporate digital transformations safer and more sustainable.
